unforgettable 4-day desert tour from Fes through the breathtaking landscapes of southern Morocco. Discover the unique charm of Ifrane, the monkey-filled Cedar Forest, and the lush Ziz Valley before reaching the majestic dunes of Merzouga. Experience a traditional camel trip, stargaze under the Sahara Desert skies, and explore the towering Todra Gorges.
Your private driver picks you up in Fes, one of the oldest imperial cities in the country. We travel through the scenic Middle Atlas Mountains toward the charming town of Ifrane, known for its European-style architecture and snowy winters.
In the nearby Cedar Forest, you’ll meet wild Barbary macaques and enjoy optional horse rides in the fresh mountain air. We continue toward Midelt, stopping for lunch in a Berber village, and drive past the spectacular palm-lined Ziz Valley.
The journey leads us to Erfoud, the “Date Capital of Morocco,” famous for its festivals and fossils. Our day ends in the desert town of Merzouga, where you’ll spend the night in a cozy riad or hotel, preparing for the adventures ahead.
After breakfast, we set out for a full desert exploration around Erg Chebbi, the stunning dune field of Merzouga. Our first visit is to Khamlia, home of the Gnawa people, descendants of West African slaves who preserve their rich musical traditions.
We then journey into the black desert, where you’ll discover the ancient Mifis mines, and visit nomadic families living near the Morocco–Algeria border. You’ll also stop at the seasonal Lake Dayet Srij, which sometimes hosts migrating flamingos.
In the afternoon, your camel guide leads you into the sea of dunes on a memorable camel ride. As the sun sets over the Sahara, take photos and admire the golden light. At the desert camp, enjoy a traditional dinner, followed by drum music around the fire. Sleep under the Milky Way in a nomadic tent beneath the stars.
Wake early to catch the stunning sunrise over the dunes, then ride camels back to Merzouga. After breakfast and a refreshing shower, we head to the Rissani souk, a bustling market town known for its date palms and traditional architecture.
Continuing through Touroug, a peaceful Berber village with lush oases, we arrive at the dramatic Todra Gorges, one of Morocco’s most iconic natural wonders. These towering limestone cliffs reach up to 300 meters and attract climbers from around the world. Enjoy hiking along the riverbed, taking photos, and relaxing in this majestic landscape. You’ll spend the night in a charming oasis lodge.
On the final day of your desert journey, we begin our drive back to Fes. Along the way, we pass through Errachidia, a quiet desert town built by the French, and revisit the Ziz Valley for another panoramic view.
We stop in Midelt, known as the “Apple Capital of Morocco,” for a relaxing lunch. Afterward, we return to the Cedar Forest and Ifrane for more sightseeing. Your 4-day tour from Fes ends with drop-off at your accommodation or the airport in Fes.
