Join our unforgettable 3-day desert tour from Marrakech and cross the stunning High Atlas Mountains to reach the vast sands of the Sahara Desert. This tour combines the magic of camel trekking in Merzouga, the cinematic charm of Ait Ben Haddou, and the beauty of the Draa Valley and Anti-Atlas Mountains.
From palm groves and Berber villages to ancient kasbahs and stargazing in the dunes, every moment on this route is rich in culture, history, and natural wonder.
At 8:00 AM, we pick you up from your riad or hotel in Marrakech and head east over the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, the highest in Morocco. Along the route, you’ll admire scenic Berber villages, terraced farms, and dramatic cliffs of the High Atlas Mountains.
Our first stop is the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that has appeared in movies like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. After lunch and a guided walk through this iconic ksar, we continue to Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa,” where you can visit the legendary Atlas Studios and the historic Taourirt Kasbah.
As we drive through the Valley of Roses, famous for its fragrant rosewater products, we arrive in the lush Dades Valley for a peaceful overnight stay in a hotel, including dinner and breakfast.
After breakfast, we visit the Tissdrine curves and the surreal Monkey Fingers rock formation. We then travel to the majestic Todra Gorges, a paradise for rock climbers and nature lovers. The cliffs here soar over 300 meters, and a gentle river runs through the narrow canyon.
We pause for lunch in Touroug, a traditional Berber village, and visit a local cooperative where artisans make handmade Berber clothing. In the afternoon, we continue to the gateway of the Sahara — Merzouga.
Upon arrival, your camel guide will help you mount your camel for a magical camel trekking experience into the Erg Chebbi dunes. Watch the sunset over the dunes, then arrive at your desert camp, where you’ll enjoy traditional dinner, Berber drum music, and a night under the stars.
Rise early to witness the sunrise illuminating the dunes. After breakfast and a return camel ride or 4×4 transfer, we depart Merzouga and take a southern route through the Anti-Atlas Mountains.
We pass through Alnif, a fossil-rich village, and stop in Agdz, where the lush Draa Valley stretches with palm groves and ancient kasbahs. This is Morocco’s longest river and a lifeline to the oases below.
After lunch, we head back to Marrakech, passing through Ouarzazate and Ait Ben Haddou once more. Expect scenic stops for photos and breaks. We’ll drop you off at your hotel or the airport, marking the end of your 3-day desert tour from Marrakech.
