Experience the magic of Morocco on a 3-day desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga, featuring unforgettable camel trekking, historic kasbahs, cinematic cities, and the endless beauty of the Sahara Desert. This immersive tour includes visits to the legendary Ait Ben Haddou, Ouarzazate, the stunning Dades Valley, and the towering Todra Gorges, before reaching the golden Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga. Travel through scenic routes across the High Atlas Mountains and the vast Draa Valley, discovering the heart of Berber culture along the way.
Your adventure begins at 8:00 am with a pick-up from your accommodation in Marrakech. We depart towards the High Atlas Mountains via the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass, where you’ll admire panoramic views of Berber villages and rugged peaks.
Our first stop is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou, a historical kasbah and filming location for many famous movies. You’ll enjoy lunch here and explore the labyrinth of earthen buildings that define this ancient site.
Next, we head to Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Morocco.” You’ll visit the iconic Atlas Studios and explore the Taourirt Kasbah, a beautiful example of southern Moroccan architecture. The journey continues through the picturesque Rose Valley before arriving in the Dades Valley, where you’ll enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in a charming local guesthouse.
After breakfast, soak in the incredible views of the Dades Valley and stop at the scenic Tissdrine curves and the unique Rock Formations known as the Monkey Fingers. Our next highlight is the dramatic Todra Gorges, a paradise for rock climbers and nature lovers. The cliffs here soar over 300 meters high, offering a spectacular landscape where you can walk along the river and through the canyon.
We’ll then continue to Touroug village, where you’ll have lunch and visit a traditional Berber weaving cooperative. Later in the afternoon, we arrive at the edge of the Merzouga Desert to meet your camel guide.
Your camel trekking experience across the golden Erg Chebbi dunes will be a highlight of the trip. You’ll ride into the heart of the dunes just in time for a stunning desert sunset, then enjoy dinner, music, and an unforgettable night at a desert camp under a sky full of stars.
Wake up early to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the dunes, then return to the village on camelback. After breakfast and a refreshing shower, we begin the journey back to Marrakech.
Our route takes us through Alnif and into the vast and scenic Draa Valley, home to Morocco’s longest river. You’ll pass through lush oases and Anti-Atlas Mountains landscapes before stopping for lunch in the peaceful town of Agdz.
In the afternoon, we continue through Ouarzazate and revisit Ait Ben Haddou, giving you another opportunity to photograph this iconic kasbah. Our tour concludes as we return to Marrakech in the evening, with a drop-off at your hotel or riad.
