Your journey begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech at 8:00 AM. We drive through the majestic High Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m), with stops for breathtaking panoramic views and photos of traditional Berber villages along the way.
Our first major stop is the famous Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987 and filming location for movies like Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and The Mummy. After exploring this historic ksar, we continue through the Draa Valley, one of Morocco’s longest and most scenic river valleys, toward Zagora.
Upon arrival in Zagora, you will start your camel trekking adventure into the desert. After witnessing a beautiful sunset, you’ll arrive at your Berber desert camp, where a traditional dinner awaits, followed by drumming music around the campfire. Spend the night under the stars in your desert tent for a truly memorable experience.
After an early wake-up to enjoy the sunrise over the desert, you’ll have breakfast at the camp and return to Zagora by camel.
We then continue our journey along the lush Draa Valley, stopping to admire the spectacular landscapes of palm groves and oases. Next, we cross the Anti-Atlas Mountains and arrive in Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa.” Here, we visit the Taourirt Kasbah and the Atlas Film Studios, where several famous movies have been filmed.
Finally, we travel back to Marrakech via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, arriving in the early evening. We’ll drop you off at your accommodation, marking the end of your 2-day Marrakech to Zagora desert tour.
