2-Day Tour from Fes to Merzouga Desert

Your 2-day desert tour from Fes begins with a pickup at your accommodation or the Fes Airport. From there, you will drive towards Merzouga, passing through the scenic Middle Atlas Mountains. The first stop is in the Swiss-like town of Ifrane (Ifrane), where you can take in the alpine charm. Continue your journey towards the Cedar Forest (Cedar Forest), home to the famous Barbary apes, and capture some stunning photographs.

Next, we travel to Ziz Valley (Ziz River), known for its lush palm groves and dramatic landscapes. This valley offers one of the most panoramic views of the area, with its expansive palm trees and the winding Ziz River. Continuing the journey, we head towards Erfoud (Erfoud), famous for its date fruit souks. The road leads us to Merzouga, where you will meet your local camel guide.

Continuing through scenic mountain roads, we pass Midelt and drive along the breathtaking Ziz Valley, known for its palm groves and hidden oases. In the afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga, where the vast dunes of the Erg Chebbi await. Tonight, you’ll relax in a traditional desert hotel or riad on the edge of the dunes.

Experience the magic of the desert with a camel trekking adventure (Camel trekking) that takes you deep into the Erg Chebbi dunes (Erg Chebbi). On your way to the dunes, enjoy a breathtaking desert sunset and capture the stunning colors of the sand. In the evening, you will spend the night at a desert camp, where you can enjoy traditional Berber music (Berber music), delicious Moroccan food, and the serenity of the desert under a starry sky.

After breakfast, we explore the magical surroundings of Merzouga. First, we visit a seasonal desert lake, then head to Khamlia Village to enjoy traditional Gnawa music played by local descendants of sub-Saharan African slaves.

Next, we venture into the black desert, visiting the ancient Mifis mines and meeting Berber nomads who still live traditionally in tents. Enjoy a delicious Berber pizza with them before returning to the hotel for a short rest.

In the late afternoon, your camel trek into the heart of the Sahara begins. As the sun sets over the dunes, you’ll ride into the golden landscape led by your camel guide. The night is spent under the stars in a comfortable desert camp, complete with dinner and traditional music by the campfire.
